Absurdity, Allegory and China

It’s official! There are two new names to add to the torch relay games that relate to the ascent-in-progress of Qomolangma (Mt. Everest):

1. Event name: Beijing Olympics Torch Relay Qomolangma Leg
2. Torch-carrying team: Chinese Mountaineering Team

No word yet on whether there will be a team to keep the medals’ podiums sacred and inviolate. I just wish BOCOG would work a little more with English acronymic possibilities. There’s a lot you can do with a BOG. They need to be looking at this from the other side: find a good word and fill in the title later. The first word that comes to my mind is, of course, BOGGLE (though that’s probably because our family plays the game quite a bit). They’ve already got the BOG and the GLE would be a snap with the right dictionary. Just musing.
